This is a very interesting series which contains interviews with
the pilots and their ultralight/recreational aircraft. Through the video series
you learn about the build, price, any modifications, engines (and so forth) of
these ultralight aircraft.
Volume 1 features some interesting aircraft
like the:
Zephyre kit built 2 seat aircraft, Boorabee MKII, The amphibious Seahawk MK IV, single seat Chinook WTII, Tornado Gyrocopter, a Gike (modified Trike to test gyro blades), KR2,
Lightwing, The Flying Wing (very interesting aircraft!), Minicab, and the
Karasport.
This first video is not too bad a video, but for me, is not as
good as the following 2 (Vol. 2 & 3). Probably my main critisism (for want
of a better word) would be that there is not enough flying action and there is
(for me) too much footage spent in the interview with the pilots on this first
volume. I would have liked to have seen more flying footage dubbed over the
interview with just a few eddited bits with the pilot on the screen talking.
Just a minor critisism - otherwise I thought it was very good, and certainly
educational.
Not a bad start to the series...A very interesting video
indeed. Ultralight and homebuilt aircraft lovers will not be disappointed.
Volume 1 DVD runs for 1 hour...not a long video, but well worth it!
If you are into ultralight aircraft, particularly kit built aircraft,
this DVD will interest you. Some interesting flying shots with a camera mounted
to the front of an ultralight as it flies around South Australia...it might be
more interesting if there was more than one camera used inflight and show some
different views/perspectives of the flight - but not too bad overall.
I
would give this DVD 8, maybe even 9/10 - overall very good for the audience it
is intended for.
